Scabies; It is a parasitic disease which is common in winter life and it is common in people living in areas with itchy rashes. Scabies is Sarcoptes Scabiei, a microscopic jug with an unnoticeable human eye. It is a common parasitic disease caused by Hominis.


Women, male sex, both sexes, all age groups, all ethnic groups, all socioeconomic levels can be seen. Because of serious outbreaks, it is more common in communities such as nursing homes, dormitories, and communities with low social levels. Body defense mechanism may show a heavy course in people who are not good.

Is the disease contagious?

The person can usually be infected with close contact (such as lying in the same bed, handles) even in a period of 15-20 minutes. After a period of 3-6 weeks after the parasite passes the person starts to complain. Especially the night is increasing, hot bath and shower is the most important clinical manifestation intensified by itching. Hand fingers, the inner face of the wrist, the underarms, the back of the ear, the waist, the ankles, feet, hips, nipples in women and the genital area in men can be seen in the body areas of pruritus and lesions. The most prominent lesion is a gray white colored, 1-10 mm long tunnel structure where the parasite lives in a dirty line that is wavy. In addition, the skin may have small blisters and stiffness, water collections and whole-skin-crusted lesions.

Where in children and babies?

In infants and persons with low body defense resistance, involvement in the whole body can be observed including the scalp and face. Although it is rare in adult patients, infants may have intra-abdominal foot and face involvement.



How is it treated?

Treatment varies according to the age of the person, the state of the immune system. It should not be forgotten that all family members sharing the same living environment should be treated at the same time even if they do not currently have active complaints. Your doctor will advise you on the basis of your age, the nature of your complaints. Do not use the medication without consulting your doctor.



What should be paid attention during treatment?

• Although different medications can be used in the treatment, there are some rules to be followed regardless of which medication is used.

• When local treatment agents are used, care should be taken to apply the drug to all body areas.

• The laundry and linen used should be washed and ironed at 60 degrees.

• It is sufficient to store the items that cannot be washed in a bag that has been attached for an average of three days.

• It should not be forgotten that even after a successful treatment, the disease findings may continue for 2 to 6 weeks.

• It is very important that people who share the same living environment are treated simultaneously.
